I recently watched One of Them Days for the first time and was especially impressed by SZA’s performance. Especially since this was the musician’s acting debut. This has led me to look back on some of the greatest acting performances by a musician in a movie.
My bias as a Little Monster may be showing here, but Lady Gaga’s performance as Ally in A Star is Born is nothing short of remarkable. Her performance in that film floored me, and while there have been plenty of great performances from musicians-turned-actors, Gaga will always be my favorite.
