2024 was not just a great year for movies, but a great year for horror, and the trend very much seems to be carrying on into 2025. Easily one of the most attention-grabbing, eyebrow-raising and electric movies of the year was Coralie Fargeat’s The Substance, which signaled an incredible comeback for the always reliable Demi Moore. The movie gave her the freedom to go to unhinged, ugly and vulnerable places, and she grabbed the opportunity with both hands and delivered what must be the best performance of her career. So will the Academy finally recognize her talent and name her Best Actress?
